Increased freight prices and delays due to the pandemic

Unfortunately, international relocations are heavily dependent on freight prices and these have been skyrocketing for quite some time. There is no improvement in sight for the current situation at the seaports and the resulting additional costs. Air freight costs have also risen sharply due to many cancelled passenger flights - they are currently between 100 to 200 percent of pre-COVID charges.

WHY?

Corona brought world trade to a brief standstill last year. However, there was an increase in strong demand that exceeded capacity. The high demand for consumer goods, resulting in shortages and delays, led to sharp price increases.

Apart from the cost increases, these frictions also lead to delayed transit times and make the planning of international removals more difficult, as this also affects the transport chains to and from the ports.

We all hope that the situation will ease in the medium term, both for the freight problem and for the pandemic itself. We ask for your understanding and wish you good health!
